GOVERNMENT 2.5 – WASHINGTON, DC – DECEMBER 14TH & 15TH, 2009
In association with Cat-Strat | Productions, we are very happy to announce that we will be holding the Government 2.5 Conference in Washington, DC on Monday and Tuesday, December 14th-15th, 2009.
The conference will be taking place at The Washington Court Hotel on Capitol Hill located at 525 New Jersey Avenue NW, Washington, DC, 20001. The Washington Court Hotel is conveniently located within a 10 minute walk to both Union Station (Amtrak) and the Capitol.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: The Government 2.5 conference aims to bring various participants and stakeholders within all aspects of government at the local, state and federal levels together to learn how best to apply social media toward improving government services and allowing the public to participant in policy debate and the spending of tax dollars.
This conference will be focused on providing existing concrete examples from both within government and private industry that can be applied within your own agency or business. We will be setting a tone within this conference for new solutions and ideas to take shape. An atmosphere for creativity and discussion is first and foremost, and attendee participation will both be fostered and encouraged.
If you have an interest in making government more efficient through applied information technology and social media, then this conference is for you.
Something Different In The Typical Conference Format
The conference will also include two evening Town Hall meetings presented and produced by Cat-Strat | Productions.
Monday Night – This Town Hall will feature an interview with Johnathan Holifield. Johnathan has held distinct, high-impact leadership positions, including president and CEO of Urban League of Greater Cleveland; president and CEO of the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy; founding executive director of CincyTech; first vice president of the Cincinnati NAACP; vice president of the Cincinnati USA Chamber of Commerce, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney and civil litigation lawyer.
We will then engage on:
“An open discussion exploring how Social Media can play a fundamental and transformational role within our government, as we ask the question: Will Social Media be a defining force of today’s modern democracy?”
Tuesday Night – This Town Hall will feature an opening address by Kevin Powell, Activist & 2008 Democratic candidate for Congress in New York titled: ““Social Media, Activism, and the New American Leadership”
We will then engage on:
“An open discussion exploring how Social Media materially impacts how we currently govern, make decisions and implement policy with our society at the local, state and federal levels.”
The Town Halls will be highly spirited, interactive and wrapped in a social context. Input and ideas will be documented and channeled to policy makers and public officials after the conference.
